Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Would a fixed wall mount with covered cable routing suit the crib better than a floor stand?
N311NW is the exact Wall Mount / Camera only selection. It includes the wall mount, not the floor stand; plan the intended wall position and follow the wall guide.
Explore this need in the finder →Are you comfortable using a phone or tablet over home Wi-Fi instead of a separate local parent receiver?
Yes. N311NW is the app camera-only setup. Nanit describes core app features without an Insights plan, but the remote phone path still depends on home Wi-Fi and internet.
Explore this need in the finder →Is one camera for one crib enough, rather than two simultaneous room pictures?
The exact N311NW package includes one camera. It is a one-room kit; do not count a second camera or the optional Home Display as part of this package.
Explore this need in the finder →The Nanit Smart Baby Monitor System N311NW is the Wall Mount / Camera only version. It gives a fixed overhead camera position for a room where a permanent wall installation is acceptable. “Camera only” is the product selector's distinction from the optional 8-inch Home Display: the selected wall mount is included, but the separate touchscreen receiver is not. The model's main decision is therefore not just which image you prefer; it is whether you want a phone-dependent system and can install the mount in the intended room.
A fixed mount changes the room setup
Nanit's support page lists a camera, wall-mount bracket and arm with a 14-foot power cable, cable covers, adapter, mounting template, screws and anchors. The manufacturer-linked Wall Mount guide gives a placement procedure for a standard crib against a wall and calls for covered, managed cords. The physical position is not a casual shelf placement: check the wall and crib arrangement, follow the exact instructions, and keep every cable beyond a child's reach. Drilling and routing cable covers are part of the job, so this version is less suited to renters who cannot make that installation or families who expect to move the camera often.
The wall mount keeps a floor stand out of the room and can maintain an overhead angle without a base beside the crib. That advantage comes with less flexibility: after the mount and cable route are installed, moving the camera means a new placement decision rather than carrying a stand to another room. The support manual lists the components, but the selected N311NW camera-only SKU should not be confused with a bundle that adds the Home Display. Although product artwork can show a band or phone interface, don't infer what ships from a composite image; the wall-mount support box list does not establish a Breathing Band as an included item for this SKU.
App, Wi-Fi and internet are part of the monitoring plan
The exact package contains one camera and no independent parent receiver. Nanit's ordinary operating path sends video and audio through its app, so caregivers need a suitable phone or tablet, a configured Wi-Fi network and internet for remote access. The company says that its core live stream, background audio, sound and motion notifications, two-way audio, and temperature and humidity tracking do not require an Insights subscription. That does not turn N311NW into a Wi-Fi-free monitor: if you need a parent screen that continues locally when home networking is unavailable, this model does not satisfy that essential need. The optional Home Display is sold separately on the product selector; it should not be counted as included in the N311NW package.
Nanit specifies 1080p video, infrared night vision and a 130-degree camera view for this camera family. The camera is fixed to its overhead mount; the reviewed material does not document remote motorized pan or tilt. It draws power from its adapter rather than an internal backup battery. One included camera means one included room view, not two-room-at-once coverage. A household needing simultaneous views should verify the exact multi-camera package rather than infer that it comes with the single-camera wall configuration.
Subscription and breathing-motion boundaries
Nanit markets sleep tracking when its camera is in an overhead Floor Stand or Wall Mount position. More detailed sleep history, video clips, analytics and specific cry-detection features are tied to Insights plan terms; the free-trial offer and post-trial membership options can change, so check the live membership page before budgeting. Basic live viewing remains useful without those extras, but don't make the purchase decision on analytics you have not confirmed will remain available at a price and duration that suit your household.
Nanit also describes camera-based Breathing Motion monitoring when the camera can see compatible patterned wear. That is distinct from sensor pads under a mattress. The N311NW support package list does not establish that the wearable is included, so confirm the exact bundle or account for the accessory separately. More importantly, Nanit states that its products are not medical devices and are not designed to diagnose, prevent or treat conditions including SIDS. Motion charts and notifications are informational, not a safety guarantee or replacement for safe-sleep practice, adult care or medical advice.
Fit it to the nursery before choosing
Choose N311NW when the crib location is stable, an overhead wall installation and cable covers are practical, one room is enough, and an app-based connection matches the way caregivers will check in. Choose the Floor Stand N303NW instead when the adjustable stand format better fits the room and you prefer not to build the camera's position around a wall bracket—while still securing and routing that stand as its manual requires. If a separate parent unit or a no-Wi-Fi fallback matters more than app access, compare a local hybrid such as the eufy E21 or a traditional receiver-first option such as the VTech VM901HD. Neither floor nor wall installation removes the camera's app, internet and power dependencies.
