Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can two supplied cameras show two rooms together while only one room’s sound is required?
Yes. The exact two-camera package and manual support a side-by-side two-camera picture; the audio focus is one camera at a time.
Explore this need in the finder →Does this package satisfy a need to hear both rooms simultaneously?
No. Split-screen carries one camera’s audio focus; scan alternates rather than mixing the two rooms.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it provide a dedicated local screen and remote pan/tilt rather than an away-from-home app feed?
Yes to the parent unit and camera controls; this non-Wi-Fi setup has no documented remote phone path.

Babysense sells Prisma as separate one- and two-camera U.S. packages. This review is for SKU PRISMA-2CAM-US, the two-camera kit, not the less expensive one-camera box with an assumed future add-on. The two-camera listing and its own product rendering show two cameras; the shared official NVBM50 manual says the twin package contains one parent unit, two cameras, three AC adapters, two wall-mount screw sets and the guide. The additional camera matters if you are setting up separate nurseries or want a second view ready from the first day.
Prisma is a local, non-Wi-Fi system. Its 2.4 GHz FHSS camera link sends video and audio to the supplied parent unit, a five-inch display with a stated 1280 × 720 resolution. It does not document phone viewing away from home. That is a useful boundary for someone who prefers a dedicated receiver and does not want the feed dependent on a home router, but it also means the parent unit—not a phone—is the way to view both rooms.
Two pictures are supported; two simultaneous audio feeds are not
The manual allows two paired cameras to appear side by side in split-screen, which is the important difference from the single-camera package. You can check both camera pictures without switching back and forth. The camera selector can also move between paired units, and its SCAN mode automatically rotates the displayed camera roughly every 15–20 seconds. If four cameras are paired, the manual says split-screen displays cameras 1 and 2 together, then the next pair 3 and 4 in another view; it does not put four pictures on the screen at once.
The audio trade-off deserves equal weight. The product page says the split picture keeps audio focused on one camera, and the guide describes switching or scanning between cameras rather than mixing two rooms' sound simultaneously. SCAN is an alternating listen, not dual-room audio. If hearing both rooms at the same moment is essential, this kit does not meet that need. The library's Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO SS documents a selectable dual-audio split arrangement, so it is a more relevant alternative for that specific requirement.
The parent unit offers remote pan and tilt, two digital zoom levels and two-way talk. The listing calls out 360-degree pan/tilt, while the guide supplies no separate travel-angle specification. Digital zoom is disabled in split-screen mode, so when both rooms are visible you give up zooming in on either view until you return to a single-camera display. Talk-back is half-duplex: while you hold the button to speak, the manual says camera sound is not audible at the parent unit.
Same nursery conveniences, with a few mode-dependent limits
The cameras include infrared night vision and remotely controlled six-color, three-level night lights. The monitor can play five preprogrammed lullabies and white noise from a camera; the guide says looping the lullabies does not include white noise. The parent display receives a camera temperature reading and has adjustable high/low alerts. The manual gives default alert boundaries below 59°F and above 89°F, but also warns that camera placement and airflow affect the sensor. Use it as a household indicator, not as a medical or room-control measurement.
VOX sound activation is off by default. With it enabled, the system can stop video and sound transmission after 30 seconds without detected sound and reactivate when the chosen sound threshold is crossed; SCAN plus VOX can wake on either camera and show the relevant view. This can keep a quiet room's display dark, but it is not motion detection. The exact product page's Q&A says the brand's non-Wi-Fi monitors do not have motion detection, so a must-have motion alarm should lead to another system.
Range, runtime and safe placement still depend on the room
The Prisma page advertises up to 1,000 feet; the guide's specification is up to 980 feet / 300 meters in open space with no obstructions. Those are rounded manufacturer claims, not a prediction for an occupied home. The manual specifically warns about interference from Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices and microwave ovens, and about walls or metal objects. Check the link from the intended camera locations before relying on it in a basement, detached room or across several floors.
The parent unit uses a built-in, non-removable 3.7-volt, 4,000-mAh Li-ion battery. The manufacturer estimates up to 20 hours with VOX on, up to 15 hours in power-saving mode and up to 12 hours with the monitor on, with about eight hours for a full charge. These are approximate upper-use figures, not a guaranteed minimum. If both views must stay on continuously through a long stretch, the manual's screen-on estimate—not the longer VOX figure—is the more relevant reference, and you should still plan for charging.
The guide says to keep the camera at least six feet from the crib, secure every power cord away from children, and keep the camera outside the crib, bed and playpen. Prisma is an indoor aid for seeing and hearing; the manufacturer says it is not a medical device and does not replace responsible adult supervision.
When the second camera earns its place
Select this two-camera package when two simultaneous room pictures and a dedicated no-Wi-Fi parent screen are worth having from the start, and one-room-at-a-time audio is acceptable. If you only need one room, the Prisma one-camera kit avoids buying a second camera you do not need. If remote phone access is essential, compare a Wi-Fi/app monitor; if simultaneous audio from both rooms is essential, compare a model whose exact manual documents that arrangement. The package count should answer a real household need, not just the possibility that another camera might be useful later.
