Motorola PIP1710 CONNECT or PIP1710-2: one camera or split-screen

Two exact retail packages, two different camera counts

Motorola lists the PIP1710 CONNECT as a one-camera package and the PIP1710-2 CONNECT as a separate two-camera kit. The product records carry different SKUs: 810036773690 for the single and 810036774376 for the Twin. Choose from the exact kit you will receive, not the maximum camera count described in a family manual. The shared guide names further PIP1710-3 and PIP1710-4 versions, but those manual references alone do not establish a separate U.S. retail SKU, included count, current status or image; they remain unresolved rather than inferred packages.

Split-screen is a local parent-unit fact

The family guide establishes that more than one registered camera can appear on the five-inch parent display together. This makes the PIP1710-2 useful when two room pictures should remain visible without switching. It does not confirm that both rooms are audible at once in split view, and the source does not establish two simultaneous app pictures. Keep those requirements separate. If two-room sound or remote split-screen is essential, do not fill the gap with assumptions from the camera count.

Choose the connection plan before the feature list

Both exact packages support a local parent-unit route and a separate app route. The direct screen plan does not require the home router or an internet connection. Remote phone viewing connects each camera through 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi and internet; the manual calls for a compatible Android 7+ or iOS 13+ phone/tablet and at least 1.5 Mbps upload bandwidth per camera. A local screen can therefore remain useful when the app path is unavailable, but the app cannot reach the camera without its network connection.

The camera head is motorized and the touchscreen manual describes pan/tilt gestures. Both packages require camera power from the supplied adapter, so plan outlets and safe cord routing for each room. The guide states up to 1,000 feet only outdoors with clear line of sight, and warns that obstructions significantly reduce range. Check both camera locations in the home rather than treating that maximum as an indoor guarantee.

Battery and optional software are not safety promises

The family user guide states up to nine hours with the parent screen on and 14 hours with it off under ideal conditions; the retailer also uses an unqualified up-to-10-hour statement. The nine-hour figure is the relevant manual condition for a screen-on minimum, but neither statement is an independent run-time test. The parent unit's audio can remain active with the display off. Cameras still need their adapters, and the parent battery is not user-replaceable.

Both exact package pages describe app alerts and optional BeyondCry insights. The manual says the cry interpretation can be wrong, is not medical advice and requires activation plus a subscription after the free first month. It works only with an internet-connected camera. Treat software prompts as optional and use adult judgement. A monitor remains an aid—not a substitute for supervision, safe placement or safe-sleep practice.

Quick choice

  • Choose the PIP1710 CONNECT for one camera, one local room and optional remote app use.
  • Choose the PIP1710-2 CONNECT if you need two included cameras and a local split picture.
  • Neither configuration should satisfy a requirement for simultaneous two-room sound or two simultaneous phone-app pictures on the present evidence.

A monitor is one part of the routine.
