Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an existing VM55-family unit use a dedicated screen without Wi-Fi?
The user guide documents local parent-unit viewing; that does not identify the exact VM55-3 retail kit.
Explore this need in the finder →Does VM55-3 prove a three-camera kit or three simultaneous views?
No. The family manual documents multi-camera operation but does not assign a box quantity or view count to this suffix.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the family camera remotely steerable?
Yes, the VM55 guide documents pan and tilt from the parent unit, but it does not verify the exact -3 package or offer.

The Motorola VM55 5-inch User Guide V2 names VM55-3 on its model list. Its standard contents section describes one parent display and one camera, while its multi-camera-pack note says extra cameras and adapters may be supplied. The manual never connects “-3” to a precise box count, current U.S. product listing, or SKU. The manufacturer’s saved exact U.S. store query for this suffix showed zero results at capture time; that is only a limited observation and not proof that it was never sold.
The documented family use path
For existing equipment, the guide describes a dedicated local parent display, a 5-inch screen, two-way talk, infrared night vision and a camera temperature readout. The parent controls can remotely pan and tilt the VM55-family camera, which differs from digital zoom: movement changes the camera’s framing, while zoom enlarges the displayed picture. Motorola also describes a 2,000 mAh rechargeable parent battery with up to five hours of operation. Actual runtime will vary with use and battery condition, and the guide recommends a lengthy initial charge.
More than one camera can be paired, and the menu offers multi-camera viewing. Those family capabilities do not prove that three cameras were included with the VM55-3, nor do they establish an exact simultaneous-screen count for a suffix-specific retail configuration. The Flexible Grip Mount is named in the generic contents section, but the exact -3 box mapping and safe fit for a particular crib rail are not established. A mount should never be used in a way that brings cords or equipment within a child’s reach.
Fit, limitations and a verified alternative
Choose this page only to identify an existing VM55-3 label or consult the shared instructions. Do not rely on it for a purchase requiring three included cameras, a current offer, the exact mount, a phone-only workflow, or a suffix-specific image. Those remain unknown. If two documented cameras would meet the need, our different VM36XL-2 Twin Pack review identifies a two-camera kit; it does not inherit the VM55’s motorized pan/tilt. For three rooms, require a current exact listing that states the kit quantity and view mode.
The temperature readout is a room reference, not a clinical measurement. Motorola says a baby monitor is an aid and not a substitute for responsible adult supervision. This is therefore a noindex manual identification note, not a buying endorsement.
