A useful fit for

A household that wants the SCD973/37 two-in-one mounting option, local parent viewing and a connected app with the documented sound options.

The main tradeoff

It includes a dedicated screen and one camera, not a ready-made multi-room kit. Remote phone and Cry Translation functions depend on a network; screen-on runtime is unknown.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does SCD973/37 provide the crib/wall mount choice?

Yes. The exact SCD973/37 specification lists a 2-in-1 mount; a suitable square rail and manual-based installation remain essential.

Can a family require phone access and Cry Translation in the connected setup?

Yes, in the connected app plan; it needs Wi-Fi and an internet path. It is not available as an offline requirement.

Does the published Eco figure guarantee eight screen-on hours?

No. The exact specification says up to 12 hours in Eco mode, but no fixed screen-on duration.

The Philips Avent Premium Connected SCD973/37 is a one-camera hybrid monitor with a 5-inch parent screen, a local no-Wi-Fi viewing mode, an app connection and a 2-in-1 crib/wall mount. It is worth considering when you want one system to cover both a dedicated screen and optional connected features, while retaining a choice of camera position.

Separate the connection choice from the camera package

The exact U.S. model page and Philips’ four-page SCD973/37 specification list one baby unit, one parent unit and one 2-in-1 mount. The screen is 5 inches at 1280 × 720, and the baby camera is Full HD 1080p. The direct connection between the included camera and parent unit can be used without Wi-Fi. The separate app route uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; remote access away from home needs an internet connection. That hybrid design lets a household use the local display as its primary check-in and add the app only when the connected option is useful. It is not phone-only, and the remote option is not available just because the local unit works offline.

Philips distinguishes this 2-in-1 mount package from the wall-only SCD971/37. The included mount can attach to a suitable crib rail or be converted to a wall installation. The shared family manual says the clamp is intended for square rails in a stated width range, not round or soft rails; it also advises changing the installation as a baby becomes able to pull up or stand. A room that does not suit the clamp can use the wall setup, but that requires drilling, cable routing and a stable power location. Keep the cable secured according to the manual and outside the sleep space.

Helpful controls, without a motorized camera head

The specification lists automatic night vision, digital zoom and pan, two-way talk, a room-temperature display and alert, a timed nightlight, background audio in the app and soothing tracks. It also lists five lullabies, five soothing sounds and five white-noise sounds, plus recording personalized sounds through the app. Those are convenience features around a fixed camera location. Digital pan and zoom adjust the image view; they do not establish that the camera physically turns toward movement. The exact box has one camera, and Philips’ compatibility page says the parent unit pairs only to the camera supplied in that package. Its support page discusses other compatible cameras through the app, but does not document a maximum or a guaranteed two-room display mode on the parent screen.

Sleep and cry information is not a medical function

Philips markets SenseIQ as wearable-free sleep and breathing tracking, with data on the parent unit and in the app. Cry Translation is also listed, and the manual states it only works when the baby unit is connected to the internet. The specification describes a free period after activation, followed by Zoundream terms. These functions are not required for ordinary local video and should not be confused with a medical alarm. Philips says its monitor and app are not medical devices, are not intended to diagnose or detect breathing interruptions, and cannot notify users of every irregularity. A sleep graph, breathing estimate or cry label is therefore supplementary context; it cannot replace adult supervision, safe-sleep practice or medical advice.

Know what the numbers do and do not promise

The published parent-to-camera range is up to 400 meters outdoors and 50 meters indoors, with the manual warning that materials and interference can reduce it. It is best treated as a published open-space ceiling, then checked in the actual home. Philips advertises up to 12 hours of parent-unit battery operation in Eco mode after a full charge. That is not an independently measured result or a guarantee of 12 hours with the screen continuously on, so a strict screen-on runtime requirement is not established. The baby camera is mains-powered; the parent unit can use its rechargeable battery or the supplied adapter.

The SCD973/37’s exact app listing specifies Android 6+ and iOS 11+, while SCD971/26 lists a different iOS floor; software requirements can change, so verify the live store listing with your phone. Among Philips’ current Premium Connected packages, choose this one for the documented 2-in-1 mounting option and the SCD973/37-specific sound/app specification. Compare the SCD971/26 for another 2-in-1 package with a listed pouch, or the SCD971/37 if you prefer wall-only installation. See Philips’ SCD973/37 support page, exact specifications and manual before choosing a mount or connected mode.
