Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can Smart Sock 2 satisfy a current phone-connected or video-monitor need?
No current supported app/internet plan is established: Owlet says support ended, internet connection ended after 2025-04-08 and recommends removing the device from the Care app. Its support article does not establish offline alerts.

No currently supported phone/internet route is established; Owlet ended support and its U.S. notice says internet connection ended after 2025-04-08.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you require a network-independent operating plan?
Unknown. The support-ended notice does not establish remaining local/offline behavior, so this cannot pass an essential offline requirement.

Owlet’s device-identification guide shows Smart Sock 2 with a sensor covered by fabric. Smart Sock 3 has an uncovered sensor and is a different generation; Dream Sock is another model with its own app compatibility. If you are trying to identify a used unit, use the covered-sensor clue rather than guessing from fabric color or a seller’s title. This is a reference page for the exact Smart Sock 2 name, not a review of a current retail package: its U.S. SKU, box contents and model-specific manual were not established.
Support and internet connection have ended
The most important practical fact is the product’s support status. In its U.S. support notice, Owlet says Smart Sock 2 support was phased out and that the device would no longer connect to the internet after April 8, 2025. The company recommended that owners remove it from the Owlet Care app. The same notice says Smart Sock was taken off the U.S. and Canadian market in 2021. Do not buy or keep a used unit on the assumption that its older app, online readings or support path will work as before.
What the notice does not establish
The notice does not establish whether every local function, light or Base Station behavior continues without internet, so this page makes no promise about offline operation. It also does not give a full package list, sensor battery life, fit range or alert specifications. Those unknowns should stay unknown rather than being borrowed from Smart Sock 3 or Dream Sock. If you already own one, follow the current manufacturer support notice for account handling and do not use this reference as health or safety advice.
Use this as an owner-identification reference, not a buying guide
For a current choice, treat any newer Owlet device as a separate model and verify its exact app, package and intended use. If the essential need is a room picture, sound from the nursery or a dedicated parent monitor, compare a verified camera or local monitor instead; a sock identification chart does not establish those capabilities. Read Owlet’s device-identification guide and Smart Sock 2 U.S. support notice. This model is not included in purchase recommendations.
